Sonixphere Adds Matt Brooks as Head of International Business Development

Sonixphere, the award-winning music and sound creators for advertising, series TV and film, is pleased to announce that Matt Brooks has joined the company as Head of International Business Development. The addition of Matt comes at a strategic time for Sonixphere as it continues to build a global presence. Matt was previously Regional Director of Operations at Sofar Sounds.

“Matt’s experience in the music and entertainment industry has given him the perfect set of tools to take Sonixphere’s success in the United States and expand it globally, starting with Europe,” says President and Creative Director Greg Allan.

 As Director of Ops for Eastern North America, Matt spearheaded Sofar Sounds’ bold expansion initiatives into 12 core markets, all while leading the subcommittee for Artist Diversity & Equity. He quickly developed the company’s operational strategies in response to COVID-19, executing over 250 live streams, panel discussions, and private digital events. Before switching to Operations, Matt booked artists for well over 500 Sofar Sounds events, including Andrew Bird, Jamila Woods, Tank & The Bangas, and Jessie Reyez. He’s been integral in activating events and sustainable operations in over 40 cities throughout 7 countries.

 “Working with Sonixphere is a dream gig,” says Matt. “I organized my first benefit concert at the age of 14, spent my later teens and early twenties playing hundreds of gigs with my own band, and I luckily got in with Sofar in the early days. I actually helped build it into the global powerhouse it is today. I’m looking forward to doing the same with Sonixphere.”

 As Sonixphere continues to diversify its offerings in original music for commercials, expanding its ever-growing licensing library, its impressive network television resume, and its audio branding successes, it’s clear Brooks has arrived at the perfect time. “Sound is more important, from a branding perspective, than it has ever been”, Greg Allan notes. “With Matt bringing Sonixphere’s presence to Europe, we’ll be able to share our unique sounds with an even more diverse audience. And that’s music to our ears… literally.”  

 When Matt is not bringing humanity together through the power of sound, he can be found publishing music blogs for Third Coast Review, hosting and producing the podcast Through The Draftline, and interviewing musicians over their favorite craft beers. Matt has been featured in the books “Live Live: Creating Community In Music Experiences” by Katie O’Connell and “Superfans: Power Technology and Money in the Music Industry” by Emily Gumbulevich.

Sonixphere will begin operations (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) in Berlin, Germany in Summer of 2021.
